Krista Löneke-Kemmerling (* 1938 in Erkrath near Dusseldorf) created this bronze sculpture as a design for a monument in 1984. It depicts a scene from the Aachen legend "The Devil and the Market Woman" about the creation of the Lousberg.
The design was realized in life-size one year later and erected at the corner of Kupferstr./ Champierweg. The problem: the positioning of the figures in relation to each other does not correspond to the design and also makes little sense in terms of content. Instead of looking at and communicating with each other, the devil and the market woman look in the direction of Aachen's city center.
We were able to purchase the original design from private property in Aachen and made it available to Peter Grube from WDR for his research.
