From August 14 to 21, 2021, Aachen's Galerie Am Elisengarten at Hartmannstraße 6 will present an exhibition by John Mackie.
After 2008, 2016 and 2018, the Scottish artist is now exhibiting in Aachen for the fourth time, showing an extensive selection of new works.
John Mackie was born in Glasgow in 1953 and studied at the Glasgow School of Art from 1972 to 1976. A scholarship enabled him to spend time in the USA and Canada. He also spent a long time traveling through Italy and France as a street painter with music-making friends.
As a northern European, he often strikes distinctly different notes in his southern motifs than local painters; his special eye for the colors and moods of southern European cities and landscapes is what makes his paintings so magical.
This year's exhibition will open on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 7:00 pm with a hybrid vernissage on site at Galerie Am Elisengarten and via virtual tour.
