Wolfgang Binding worked as a professor for sculpture at the RWTH Aachen for a long time. He completed an apprenticeship as a sculptor and stonemason. As a master student at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf he received 1962 at the age of 25 the Ernst Poensgen Prize. Before his appointment as professor he was assistant to Elmar Hillebrand at the RWTH Chair of Architecture and works as a professor at Northern Michigan University in the USA. His work can be found in prominent places. Probably best known is his 2.80 m high horse group "Playing Horses" on the CHIO grounds. The collection of the Guggenheim Foundation owns a large bronze sculpture ("The Goat").
